Com Açúcar Com Afeto [digital]
Com Açúcar Com Afeto is a replica of a 1970s cookbook handwritten in brazilian portuguese by the culinary teacher Alice Sodré (and her students).
The book is funny, with comments and excerpts. Several recipes include exorbitant amounts of "claybom" (margerine), others are unusual, such as candied fruit farofa. It's a journey through time, and even if the recipes are not taken literally, they are a legacy and an inspiration.
Alice Sodré, today, would be considered an entrepreneurial woman. But in the 70s, she didn't say she had a bakery, she said she was a widow who "baked cakes out". When she wanted to work less, she raised the price, which had the opposite effect — her work became even more valued and coveted.
Alice's book, also known as "licinha granny", was digitized and formatted by her great-granddaughter, and is dedicated to all Brazilian great-grandmothers.
