Silvia Federici explains what function the witch hunts served in Europe during the medieval era, far beyond the superficial understandings we often have of it.
This phenomenon in which primarily women—mostly poor women—were targeted, tortured, and publicly executed paved the way for the rise of the world-eating socioeconomic order. During the witch hunts, tens of thousands, potentially hundreds of thousands, of women were killed, and this event is rarely given the attention it really deserves.
